  1. Vintage Yard Wedding Venue 

Well it’s in the name so it must be true…Vintage Yard Wedding Venue is a stunning rock-face chapel set along the banks of the Vaal River. It’s located just 100km outside of Johannesburg and can accommodate up to 240 guests so is ideal as a destination venue. From the chapel, guests cross a stone bridge and walk up to the grass-covered embankment for snacks and drinks while they take in the majestic views. The beautiful reception venue has two fireplaces making this a suitable winter wedding venue as well.

This Ballito-based farm-style venue is only 30 minutes from Durban and the gorgeous landscaped gardens, water feature and breathtaking scenery make this a classic wedding site. There is the original vintage wedding venue – the more rustic Boma option – and the Orchid House, a colonial-style homestead. The Chapel at the Boma seats 120 guest inside with up to 400 guests accommodated at the Boma reception. The Orchid House is suited to more intimate ceremonies of 120 guests and comes with its own bridal salon, chapel, full reception facilities, picturesque gardens and extensive parking.

Taking guests back to a time of old-fashioned horse carriages and old-world charm, Victorian Manor is a stunningly vintage spot for weddings. Located in Cullinan, just 34km outside of Pretoria, Victorian Manor can accommodate 180 guests and offer bridal parties a full-service experience, from invitation design to décor. The wedding party also has use of the nearby Sir Herbert Baker Church, a quaint local Anglican church that can be booked through Victorian Manor. Award-winning pastry chef, Jonathen Kershaw, will also prepare a dream wedding cake for the event.

Situated in the Free State just outside of Parys, The Nutcracker oozes vintage charm through its stylish country-style designs and unbelievably scenic surrounds. Outdoor weddings on the manicured gardens overlooking the Vaal River are popular or opt for the classic stone chapel venue. The wedding reception then moves over to the Reception Hall with its Oregon-framed windows, antique wooden tables and chairs and beautiful glass chandeliers creating a warm and inviting wedding atmosphere. The hall, which can accommodate up to 200 guests, is designed to incorporate this stunning backdrop with 12 stack doors creating a flow onto the natural surroundings. Canapes can be enjoyed in the courtyard following a ceremony in onsite chapel with its large, rustic windows overlooking hills of sugarcane fields.

On the slopes of the Suikerbosrand River Valley, within the Heidelberg farmlands just 45 minutes from Johannesburg, is this rustic space. Wedding ceremonies can be held in the vintage chapel – a converted milk parlour – which seats 150 guests on handcrafted seats under modern chandeliers and décor. Guests are also offered the outdoor ceremony option on old-style wooden benches overlooking the farmland and valleys. The reception then takes place in a refurbished farmhouse that combines the old-school charm and modern conveniences. The vintage wedding venue even has a wine cellar and inhouse chef for all culinary needs.

Columns of 100-year-old Norfolk Pines surround the established garden and there is even a Koi pond, complete with waterfall and bridge to complete the natural feel.
