From flowers to draping, colour is an element we expect to see more of this winter.  In sharp contrast to the chill of the evening, deep colours bring a warmth to your venue and help create a cosy atmosphere.  Deep red roses, teamed with rich seasonal foliage in Mercury vases for a touch of height and old-world charm.

Colour isn’t only for décor winter wedding trends, burgundy and navy are being seen more and more often in the men’s wear as well as in shoe colour.

Use touches of metallic to enhance the elegance of your evening, gold champagne coolers filled with soft blooms or copper candle holders can be used to bring a touch of charm.

 

Faux Fur and Velvet

The wedding trend towards faux fur continues this winter.  It’s the perfect accompaniment to your retinues ensemble, either as a stole or hand muff, it’s both practical and looks fabulous.  Draping chairs with faux fur blankets as favours for your guests will add warmth and texture to your décor and aid in creating a cosy ambience.

Less of the tight, structured posies, more of the natural, cascading bouquets, using deep rich hues and seasonal foliage.  Brides this season are looking to the more unstructured bouquet using available foliage in celebration of the season.

Drip Cakes

One of the hottest wedding trends this winter is the drip wedding cake.  They look spectacular and are delicious at the same time.  You can choose a drip of any colour, deep red or gold and have it decorated with seasonal fruit and flowers to highlight the season.  Gold dripping with deep red roses or regent purple and gold glazed apples is a stunner.

An awesome alternative to the summer gin bar.  A hot chocolate bar is suitable for all ages.  Set up a station for your guests, either before the ceremony or while they await your return after, with all the delicious accompaniments, mini marshmallows, chocolate dipped strawberries and sprinkles, whipped cream and a splash of rum or Amarula.  Provide personalised enamel mugs as favours to be used at the station.
